Join us to celebrate the life of an amazing surfing icon.
We will be holding a paddle-out ceremony in memory of Bill Frierson at 11:30 at the First Street Jetty. Bill was a staple of the Virginia Beach surf community, having lived here since 1965. Renowned for his talent as a surfboard shaper, Bill also co-owned WRV 1974-1997, had surfed with the Hobie team 1965-1967, won the Men's division at the 1969 East Coast Surfing Championships, and became a member of the ECSC Legends Hall of Fame and the East Coast Surfing Hall of Fame, as well as the International Surfboard Builders Hall of Fame.
