2001 East Coast Surfing Championships Kite Surfing Heat Results - Finals

Virginia Beach, Va. -The 39th annual East Coast Surfing Championships, The Virginia Beach Jaycees, and The United States Surfing Federation are pleased to announce the final scores for the 5th day of amateur surfing competition. The surf remained in the 6 foot range on Sunday. The swell continued to hold throughout the afternoon for the final heats. Many of the competitors have commented that the surf for the finals on Sunday was some of the best ever in the history of the ECSC. All results listed blow are FINALS. First place finishers will hold the title of East Coast Surfing Champion for their respective divisions until the 2002 ECSC.

Men Amateur Kiteboard - Final

1st - Rob Hassel, Sarasota, FL 2nd - Kevin Collins, Melbourne Beach, FL 3rd - Greg Meisheid, Melbourne Beach, FL 4th - James Lauder, Cape Hatteras, NC

Women Pro Kiteboard - Final

1st - Kristy Moller, White Rocks, British Columbia, Canada - $800 2nd - Terry Flicek, Fort Lauderdale, FL - $500 3rd - Dana Meidama, Ocean City, NJ - $250

Men Pro Kiteboard - Final

1st - Gary Reed, Hood River, Oregon - $1,400 2nd - Jesse Merle Jones, Hawaii - $700 3rd - Royce Reid, Puerto Rico - $350
