East Coast Surfing Championships - Press Office - ECSC, the premier surfing contest and Pro-Am Surfing competition on the East Coast is the Southeast's best beach and entertainment festival located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The surfing competition and beach events also includes other water sports: skimboarding, volleyball, a boardwalk 5K run, Hooters swimsuit contest, street skateboard and ramp contests, and live bands and music on the beach.

2002 ECSC Dusty Hinnant/Hugh Kitchin Memorial Scholarship Winner Chosen

Wesley Petticrew Wesley Petticrew has been named as this year's recipient of the East Coast Surfing Championships Dusty Hinnant/Hugh Kitchin Memorial Schoalrship.

The Kellam High School Senior was chosen from numerous nominees for the $2,500 award. This is the 11th year the ECSC has given out the scholarship in memory of two very influential resort community leaders who believed that good surfers can also be good students and good citizens.

Wes began surfing before his teenage years. He is recognized as one of the top bodyboarders on the East Coast under the age of 21. He is, of course, a regular competitor in ECSC and has won numerous U.S., Eastern Surfing Association and ECSC competitions.

Wesley Petticrew will attend The University of Virginia this fall.
