Thursday provided the competitors with small off shore conditions, which produced some memorable rides. All the competitors have turned a watchful eye towards Tropical Storm Dean, which remains brewing in the Atlantic right now. Dean's path is expected to take it directly into the favorable swell corridor for the east coast of the United States. It is expected that the swells will increase over the weekend and create even more favorable conditions for the surfers.
