ECSC ANNOUNCES 2001 EVENTS

Virginia Beach, Virginia - The 39th annual East Coast Surfing Championships will be held August 22nd through 26th, as top professionals and amateurs compete in the oldest continuous running surfing competition in North American, and the second oldest worldwide. ECSC is a Beach Sports and Music Festival which includes traditional events such as Pro and Amateur Surfing, Skimboarding, Volleyball, 5K-Run, Swimsuit competition and a charity Golf Tournament. This year ECSC will feature several new competitions including BMX Bikes, Skateboarding and Kite Surfing.

In addition, the Pringlesmobile will be making a stop at ECSC this year to give some lucky couple a chance to win a spot in Pringles TV commercials. The Pringlesmobile is a tractor-trailer that converts into a high energy, mobile dance club. For more information visit www.pringles.com.

The East Coast Surfing Championship is traditionally held on the final weekend of August to best capture tropical storm swells prevalent at that time of year. ECSC is one of the largest sporting events on the East Coast and the only one operated by a force of volunteers. All profits generated by the East Coast Surfing Championship are returned to the programs and community projects of the Virginia Beach Jaycees.
