East Coast Surfing Championships - Press Office - ECSC, the premier surfing contest and Pro-Am Surfing competition on the East Coast is the Southeast's best beach and entertainment festival located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The surfing competition and beach events also includes other water sports: skimboarding, volleyball, a boardwalk 5K run, Hooters swimsuit contest, street skateboard and ramp contests, and live bands and music on the beach.

BALTIMORE, MD – The Toyota Pro Beach East Volleyball Tour will wrap up the 2007 season at the 6th St. Beach in Virginia Beach, Saturday, August 25 and Sunday, August 26. The tour, now in its ninth season has previously made stops in Baltimore and Ocean City, MD. Top professional players from across the U.S. will participate in this double-elimination tournament.

Thus far on the tour this season, Matt Heath and Mike DiPierro have each won twice, once as a team and once each with different partners. Heath and DiPierro stormed to the finals in Baltimore defeating Tim McNichol and Ihor Akinshyn, last year’s champions, in the finals. During the first Ocean City stop on July 7, Heath and new partner Keawe Adolpho went undefeated to the finals before an ankle injury forced Heath out, giving DiPierro and Steve Grotowski the crown. At the last stop in Ocean City, Heath and Adolpho cruised to the title beating Joey Cash and Matt Henderson.

The Toyota Tour has increased prize money for the seventh straight year. All four events will payout over $8,000 in cash, plus assorted gear and prizes. The first place prize money will be $3,000 for each event. The tour will pay out to seventh place. The 2005 and 2006 AVP Best Offensive Player Phil Dalhausser, who won the World Championships this year, got his start on the Toyota Tour.

Seating is free to the public and there will be giveaways and activities for the whole family. Play runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, which will feature the semifinals and championship matches.

The Toyota Pro Beach Volleyball Tour is being put on by Corrigan Sports Enterprises, a leader in sports promotions in the Baltimore/Washington D.C. region.
