- Where do I park?
For many years, ECSC events have been held from 2nd Street to 9th Street at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Pro and Amateur surfing is contested by the Rudee Inlet Jetty at 2nd Street; the Main Stage music venue is located between 4th and 5th Streets. The Volleyball Tournament is staged from 6th Street through 9th streets.
Each event has several categories for amateurs male and female. There is a pro category for most events as well.
Are there other events besides surfing?
ECSC is unique. Part surfing classic, part music festival, part beach party, part multi-event sports-tournament and 100% fun. Besides Professional and Amateur surfing competitions, ECSC offers a variety of other events to attend.

Who are the Virginia Beach Jaycees?
ECSC is planned, produced and staffed by the Virginia Beach Jaycees. The Jaycees is a volunteer leadership organization that trains through community service and is open to men and women ages 21 to 39. To learn more about them, please visit the Virginia Beach Jaycees website.
What kind of media exposure has the ECSC been given?
Public relations efforts have resulted in national media coverage of the ECSC events including, but not limited to, features by ESPN, USA Network, MTV2, The Bikini Open, The Hawaiian Tropic Series and most recently, USA Today and The Washington Post, as well as extensive local and regional media coverage.
Award-winning PR campaigns have consistently earned ECSC the designation as a Top 20 Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. U.S. News & World Reports “Great Vacation Drives” supplement has rated ECSC one of America’s Best Fairs and Festivals for several years.
How long has this event gone on?
The original event started in Long Island, New York in 1961. But the East Coast Surfing Championships started on Virginia Beach shores in 1963, making it the second-longest, continuously-run surfing contest in the world!

Scenic Virginia Beach has a lot to offer the vacationer – the sun, the surf, the events, the attractions. There’s a great time to be had for every taste. (After all, how can 2.4 million visitors a year be wrong?)
Where do I park?
The City of Virginia Beach offers municipal parking lots and garages, as well as alternate on-street spaces from 1st Street to 37th Street at the Oceanfront for a minimal fee.
There is designated parking spaces throughout the resort area for disabled visitors and residents. In addition handicap accessible ramps are located from the boardwalk at each beach access from 2nd Street through 80th Street, with extended ramps to the water at 8th, 17th, 24th and 30th Streets.
