More than
2.4 million tourists visit Virginia Beach each year from
all over the United States and Canada. With the historically-rich
Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg areas just a short
drive away, you can take advantage of so much more than
our refreshing ocean waters.
The summer weather in Virginia Beach is perfect for visitors!
Temperatures average in the mid 80's (29°C) from May
to August! But the mild Virginia Beach climate in the early
spring and the late fall is also ideal for visitors who
may want to enjoy a more relaxed vacation before or after
the start of the busy summer season.
But
no matter when you visit, you can always find something
to do for everyone. Kids can crack a home run at the outdoor
batting cages, enjoy soft-serve ice cream at the boardwalk's
unique Dairy Queen facility, take a ride on the giant swing
at Rudee Inlet, or putt a few rounds on one of the many
mini-golf courses dotting the oceanfront.
For the adults, "The Block" (as some of the locals have
affectionately branded it) offers an entertaining mix of
clubs, bars and restaurants - "The Edge", "Crazy
Charlie's", "Luna
Sea", and "Chicho's"
are just a few of the local favorites. Then chow down at
the famous eats of "Mahi
Mahs", "C.P.
Shuckers" and "Crocs".
You can find a place to stay in one of our 11,000 hotel
rooms (and that's not including camping grounds and seasonal
rental units). Then get yourself a comfortable pair of shoes
- with 310 square miles of sand, there's a lot of area to
cover and so much to do. So let's get started!
